Enhanced HLTAID011 Course Overview
The HLTAID011 Provide First Aidcation designed to equip participants with comprehensive first aid skills. This course includes HLTAID009 Provide CPR, ensuring readiness to manage a variety of injuries and medical emergencies effectively. It is also a critical certification for workplaces, especially for professionals in childcare, education, emergency response, and medical fields.
Previously identified as HLTAID003, this course continues to be a trusted standard in first aid training across Australia. The program features a mandatory online learning component to be completed within eight weeks before the in-person session, making it convenient for busy schedules.
Course Outline
Participants will gain theoretical knowledge and hands-on practical training, including:
- Roles and responsibilities of a first aider.
- Use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
- Application of the DRSABCD action plan during emergencies.
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) on adult and infant manikins.
- Managing medical conditions such as diabetes, fractures, and unconsciousness.
- Responding to life-threatening conditions like heart attacks, strokes, and head/spinal injuries.
- Treatment for burns, wounds, poisoning, choking, sprains, and strains.
- Infection control, as well as managing bites, stings, and heat or cold-related conditions.
Competencies Achieved
Upon successful completion, participants will receive the following competencies:
- HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
- HLTAID010 Provide Basic Emergency Life Support
- HLTAID011 Provide First Aid
Certification and Assessment
Assessment is conducted through both online and in-person evaluations. Upon successful completion, participants will receive a Statement of Attainment (SOA) within 21 business days, provided payment and USI validation are completed.
Completion Requirements:
- 100% attendance in the in-person training session.
- Successful demonstration of all competencies in assessment activities.
- Participants who are not deemed competent after two attempts may be required to retake the course at their expense.

Recertification Period
First Aid skills should be renewed every three (3) years from date of issue.
Resuscitation skills should be renewed every 12 months as per First Aid in the Workplace Code of Practice and Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines.
Entry Requirements
- Aged 14 years and older
- Participants under 14 years of age are required to provide a consent form complete by a legal guardian
- Good mobility
Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) Requirements
- Participants will require suitable LLN skills to complete the following tasks/skills:
- Listen and understand verbal information delivered by an English-speaking trainer
- Complete written incident report forms in English
- Read and answer a multiple-choice question paper
- Read and answer a short-written answer test
- Listen to instructions of an Automated External Defibrillator where prompts are delivered in English
- Be able to count to 30
Course Attendance
- Arrive on time to class
- Obey parking restrictions
- Bring your Confirmation Letter as proof of registration.
- Bring photographic ID
- Wear comfortable clothing
- Wear enclosed shoes.
- Do not make up for courses that include CPR

Certification and Assessment: Assessment feedback is provided after completion of the training. The Statement of Attainment (SOA) is issued within 21 business days, after payment and USI validation.
Completion Requirements: 100% attendance and successful demonstration of competence in all assessment activities. If not competent after two (2) additional attempts, you may need to repeat the course at your own expense.
Rebooking and Refund Policy: In case BLS First Aid cannot provide the agreed training, a full refund or alternative date will be offered. Cancellations or reschedules within less than 24 hours will incur a 25% rebooking fee.
